Meet Mandisa Mfeka, South Africa’s First Black Female Fighter Pilot

South African female pilot, Major Mandisa Mfeka made headlines as she became the first female pilot to fly a fighter jet, this happened during the inauguration of South Africa’s newly elected president, Cyril Ramaphosa

On Saturday, Mfeka, 29, became South Africa’s first black female fighter pilot as she led a team flyover to mark President Ramaphosa’s inauguration at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.

Major Mfeka joined the South African Air Force (SAAF) in 2008, receiving her wings in 2011 after a year at the Central Flying School in Langebaan in the Western Cape.
