Arthur Eze is a Nigerian oil mogul, philanthropist and the CEO of Atlas Oranto Petroleum International Limited, one of the largest privately-held Nigerian exploration and production group. He also holds different positions on various boards in different sectors across Nigeria. His company has secured significant upstream positions in frontier plays in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Togo, Ivory Coast, Chad, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. Popularly known for his philanthropic works, he is said to be one of the wealthiest men in Africa with, according to unverified sources a net worth of about $6 billion

Arthur Eze, also known as Prince Arthur Eze was born on the 27th of November 1948 in Ukpo village, Dunukofia Local Government Anambra State, Nigeria. As a descendant of tribal royalty, he is usually referred to as Prince Arthur Eze.

He attended St. Augustin Secondary School in Nkwere, Imo State in 1970. After his secondary education, he then went to California State University, Long Beach, California to study mechanical and chemical engineering from 1974 to 1978.

Interestingly, Arthur Eze founded Atlas Oranto Petroleum in 1991. The company currently has over 22 oil and gas licenses in 12 jurisdictions across Africa. It has assets in Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, and several Atlas Oranto operated blocks. Till date, the company is one of the largest holders of oil exploration blocks in Africa.

Furthermore, Atlas Oranto has regional offices and representatives across core investment locations in West Africa with its technical base located in Lagos, while its headquarters is at Abuja. The chairman chose Abuja as its headquarters to enable the management of the company to have direct access to African policy-makers in the region. The company is reported to have various technical partners, ranging from Roc Oil, Pioneer Natural Resources of the USA, Canoxy, Transworld of the USA, LukOil of Russia, Tetra, Noble, Kosmos Energy of the USA, Petronas of Malaysia, DNO of Norway, TransAtlantic Petroleum of the USA, Canada’s Nexen, to mention but a few. 

In addition, Arthur Eze is known and respected for his philanthropic gestures. Notably, in 2013 he made headlines when he donated $12 million at a fundraising dinner to help fund construction of an Anglican Church Youth Development Center in Otuoke, Bayelsa State. He is also known for his $6.3 million donation to flood relief efforts in Nigeria in 2012, as well as to ongoing educational causes and to universities across the world.
