In an efforts to making youths around its host communities fit for employment in the refinery, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Company has commenced skill acquisition scheme to help host community youths acquire requisite know how for suitable employment opportunity at the refinery upon completion. The Refinery located at the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos, is targeting young people from the area for the skill acquisition programme.
According to Devakumar Edwin; Dangote Group Executive Director of Capital Projects, the skill acquisition programme was designed to show the company’s commitment to the capacity building of youths in the country, as every country’s future is measured by how seriously the capacity of its most potent work force is taken.
The skills acquisition by Dangote Group is undertaken in conjunction with the National Directorate of Employment-NDE, as well as the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board-NCDMB. The training focuses on the following skills; electrical works, welding, iron bending, plumbing, masonry and auto mechanics.
The event was attended by royal fathers and leaders of the Ibeju-Lekki community including the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu.
