On Thursday, May 16th, 2019, AFF hosted the second edition of its highly anticipated AFF Disrupt Conference at the Landmark Event Centre, Lagos.
“African startups will not be left out on the trend as a result of events and activities by the African Fintech Foundry (AFF)”.
Inspired by the need for Africa to be a part of the technology revolution, the event was full of sessions that equipped all attendees with the information needed to transform technology in Africa.
Themed Digital Goldrush: Building a Sustainable Tech-economy, it was a gathering of over 30 technology experts from all over the world discussing subjects in specific tech industries including Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Banking, and Analytics.
To encourage young tech innovators, a part of the event was dedicated to tech start-ups showcasing their applications and technological solutions for a chance to win $10,000. Startups that participated in the demo presentation included TREP Lab, Smart Teller, Kaoshi, Gricd among others. The demo ended with Gricd, a startup that provides cold chain solutions for the storage and transportation of temperature sensitive items in the healthcare and agriculture sectors in sub-Saharan Africa emerging as the winner and claiming the star prize.
Alongside the teeming attendees and numerous speakers, the Access Bank CEO, Herbert Wigwe and the Executive Director, Operations and IT, Ade Bajomo were in attendance. The successful event is yet another initiative by Access Bank to revolutionalize technology in Africa.
