Olajumoke Adenowo, full name- Olajumoke Olufunmilola Adenowo is an outstanding Nigerian architect, entrepreneur and philanthropist. She is also an author, speaker, radio host and the founder of boutique architecture and interior design firm AD Consultin located in Lagos, Nigeria.
She has been described by CNN as “Africa’s Starchitect” and as “the face of Architecture in Nigeria” by The Guardian.
Olajumoke Adenowo was born on the 16th of October, 1968 in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Olajumoke was indeed a precocious child, at the age of 14 she had already gained admission into Obafemi Awolowo University and at 19 she graduated with a B.Sc with honours in Architecture. She returned to the University in 1991 for a Master’s of Science in Architecture and got a distinction in all the courses she offered.
She is an alumnus of the Yale School of Management, Lagos Business School Chief Executive Programme and the IESE Business School at the University of Navarra in Barcelona, Spain.
Olajumoke started her climb to self establishment with a job as an Assistant Architect at Towry Coker Associates and then moved on to work as a leading Architect at a prominent design firm in Lagos- Femi Majekodunmi Associates. She even worked on the Federal Ministry of Finance project in Abuja when she was only 23.
In 1994 she established her own boutique architecture and interior design firm- AD Consulting. She was 26 at the time. Her company has worked on lots of projects nationwide, including projects like Nigerian government buildings, private residences, healthcare facilities, industrial campuses and corporate and financial institutions. The company has been patronized by even the world’s leading brands like Coca-Cola and L’Oreal.
Olajumoke Adenowo also owns an oil and gas firm and a property management firm- Advantage Energy.
Olajumoke is also an accomplished author.
Olajumoke is indeed one of the most globally recognised architect from Nigeria. She has She has been featured in the world’s leading architectural journal- Architectural Record, she has spoken at many summits and conferences one of which is the Global Women’s Forum and Harvard Business School (African Business Club) and she holds many honorary degrees.
She also hosts the syndicated radio show on leadership- ‘Voice of Change’. She was featured in “Who will be who in the 21st century” (young achievers section) by the International Biographical Centre Cambridge, England and “Those who Inspire Nigeria” in 1991.
Her company- AD Consultin has also received several awards for design brilliance and is Nigeria’s most internationally awarded firm.
Olajumoke Adenowo is also a devout philanthropist. She founded the Awesome Treasures Foundation (ATF) in 1999. The foundation is a faith-based NGO located in Lagos, Nigeria.
