West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination(WAEC) has always been held May/June over the past years, has been delayed because of the event of Covid-19.
With initial fears of possible cancelation of the annual examination due to the fact that some of the countries involved in the yearly examination practice were reluctant to risk the wellbeing of the students over the examination.
With the gradual easing of the lockdown imposed on countries around the world and Ghana set to resume international flights, the examination body had to sit and come up with a new date for the exam, although their initial decisions were criticized by some of the countries especially Nigeria.
A final date was agreed and slated on the 17th of August 2020 and the Timetable released. The examination finally kick-started today and with a number of high school final year students set to partake, we hope the lengthy stay away from academic activities does not affect their performance.
